2017 project updates

  • In August 2016, crews successfully completed work to energize the new Maxwelton substation. Thank you to our customers on Whidbey Island for your patience during the necessary scheduled power outage.

Project overview

To increase reliability for our customers on south Whidbey Island, Puget Sound Energy constructed a new 25 megavolt amperes (MVA) substation, upgraded a section of our existing 115 kilovolt (kV) transmission line, undergrounded a section of distribution line, and replaced aging poles on an existing transmission line (see project map).
