Puget Sound Energy substation project

Covington area capacity

2018 project updates

  • Project planning is currently in progress.
  • Construction is deferred until 2019.

Project overview

PSE plans to build a new electric substation in Covington to increase electric reliability and capacity to customers in the Covington and nearby areas of unincorporated King County.

The substation will also provide greater system flexibility, resulting in fewer outages. When complete, it will include one 25 megavolt ampere (MVA) transformer and have the space to add a second 25 MVA transformer, allowing PSE to double the capacity in the future without changing the substation footprint.

Committed to keeping you informed
