We are aware of an issue with our outage map. It is not reflecting all of the customers whose power has been restored, and is not showing a set of customers who are still without power. Our internal systems for identifying outages and prioritizing restorations are still functioning. The map issue appears to stem from a technology change-over for the mapping system that was implemented this fall.

We know it is frustrating for our customers and we are working hard to reconcile the data showing on the map. We ask that you continue to report outages if needed.

Our crews will continue to work around the clock until the last customer is restored.

November Wind Storm

Updated ETRs

To our customers without power:

We know it has been a difficult three days. And we have some hard news to share for some of our customers. Due to the substantial amount of damage we are encountering from the hurricane force winds of the storm, which has made our work slower than expected, we have to push back estimated restoration times for customers.

We will have three restoration times:

  • Saturday at 12pm
  • Sunday at 6pm
  • Monday at 10am

We are in the process this evening of updating our outage map with the estimated restoration times for your outage. We are working as hard as we can to get power restored to you sooner than the times listed above. As our field crews gain more detailed information about your outage, we will update the outage map with a more specific time.

Puget Sound Energy project

Maxwelton Substation/Langley Tap electric projects complete

Project overview

To increase reliability for our customers on south Whidbey Island, Puget Sound Energy constructed a new 25 megavolt amperes (MVA) substation in 2016. Several projects that complement the new substation include upgrading a section of our existing 115 kV transmission line (Langley 15/16 feeder extension), replacing aging poles on a transmission line from Langley to Maxwelton substations and undergrounding a section of distribution line along Craw Road were completed as of 2020.

Craw Road undergrounding

Converted a short section of existing overhead distribution line to underground along Maxwelton Road from the Craw Road intersection across SR 525 to the Whidbey Island High School.

Langley 15/16 feeder extension

Upgraded the Langley 15/16 feeder extension, an existing single-phase low-voltage line, to a higher capacity three-phase line along Maxwelton Road south from Craw Road and extending onto French Road. This provides additional capacity to allow the new substation to back up electric load normally served by Langley substation, and greatly improved reliability of electrical service in Langley.

Langley Tap pole replacement

Replaced the aging wooden poles of the Langley Tap, an existing transmission line currently running from the Langley substation, along SR-525, Midvale Road, Maxwelton Road and Craw Road to the new Maxwelton substation.
