PSE Hosts Second Round of Neighborhood Workshops on Energize Eastside, New Question-and-Answer Session Added

BELLEVUE, Wash. (April 16, 2014) – The next series of neighborhood workshops is under way on the Energize Eastside project, which will allow Puget Sound Energy to bring new, higher-capacity electric transmission lines to serve the growing need of homes and businesses on the Eastside.

A session specifically designed to answer questions from community members has also been added, based on feedback received by PSE. Neighbors will be able to directly ask or write down questions that will be answered by representatives from PSE and national experts in various fields.

The question-and-answer session in Renton is from 6-9 p.m. All other meetings are from 6:30-9 p.m.

PSE started public outreach on the Energize Eastside project in January, with open houses, community meetings and neighborhood workshops.

Key information from all the events is funneled to a Community Advisory Group, which plans to make a recommendation on a route option to Puget Sound Energy in the fall. PSE expects to make the final decision on the path of the transmission lines by the end of this year.

The chosen route will move forward for design and permitting in early 2015. Construction on the new transmission lines is planned to begin in 2017, and should be operational in 2018.
