November Wind Storm

The windstorm caused extensive damage to our system late afternoon yesterday and into last night. As of 5:20 a.m., we have 416,488 customers out of power.

Our focus today is on critical infrastructure and public safety, as PSE has been fielding many 911 calls for safety/emergency needs. With daylight approaching, crews will continue assessing more of the overall damage to the region and provide restoration updates as information becomes available.

We anticipate a multiple day outage and encourage customers with critical needs to make alternate plans as we work to assess the situation and restore power.

alert

Safety first. Never touch or go within 35 feet of downed power lines because they might be energized. Call PSE at 1-888-225-5773 or 911 to report problems.

  • How it works

If you’re eligible for increases rebates, there are three ways to claim them:

    Need a charger?

If you don’t have a Level 2 charger or want a new one, you can purchase a qualifying model through the PSE Marketplace to receive an instant PSE rebate.

    Already purchased a charger?

Apply online, or download a PDF to apply by mail, for a post-purchase rebate on a qualifying Level 2 charger purchased in 2024.

    Need installation help?

If you have a charger already, hire a PSE-recommended energy professional who can offer installation incentives for eligible customers.

  • Maximize the benefits of charging

Our home charger rebate isn’t the only way to save. Customers purchasing a Level 2 charger from the PSE Marketplace with a PSE rebate are automatically pre-enrolled in the PSE Flex EV program.

As a participant in Flex EV, your electric vehicle charger will automatically adjust its charging times around Flex events, helping to ease strain on the grid during times when energy demand is higher than normal.

With Flex EV, you can earn rewards while joining others to help smooth energy demand during peak times. Upon installing your charger, PSE’s program partner Autogrid or your charger’s manufacturer will contact you to complete the enrollment process. You’ll then receive a $100 incentive for joining ($50 after May 31) and $0.50 for every kilowatt-hour of electricity saved during Flex events.*

    * Customers participating in PSE’s Time of USE pilot are not eligible for the Flex EV incentive.

  • When you charge matters

Whether or not you’re participating in PSE Flex, when you charge your electric vehicle matters. Charging at certain times of day – overnight or in the middle of the afternoon – is better for both the electrical grid and environment. It’s at those times when electricity consumption is at its lowest and energy from renewable sources like solar and wind is most available.

PSE recommends charging your EV between during the following hours:

    • 10 p.m. – 6 a.m. weekdays
    • 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. weekdays
    • Anytime on weekends

What if I rent my home?

Can I participate in PSE Flex if I only use a Level 1 charger at home?
No, participating in PSE Flex is only for customers using a Level 2 charger at home. However, customers with an AMI meter who heat and/or cool with PSE electricity and have a qualifying thermostat may enroll that device. See the PSE Flex page for more information.

Does PSE offer a discount for charging during certain hours?
PSE is currently running a time-of-use pilot for certain customers, which provides a financial incentive for charging at certain times of day. This program is not available for all customers at this time. Customers cannot participate in both the time-of-use pilot and PSE Flex.
