​Portable Classroom Control Rebates


Puget Sound Energy is offering schools an incentive of up to $350 to upgrade portable classroom controls from seven-day programmable thermostats to 365-day programmable thermostats.

Pre-approval is not required unless the selected equipment is not on the eligible list. If the thermostat you would like to use is not on the list, contact the commercial rebate manager Joe Schmutzler at 425-456-2458 with your equipment specifications for approval and it will be evaluated for addition to the list. PSE will also provide incentives for additional controls installed in conjunction with a 365-day programmable thermostat that results in energy savings. Rebate amounts:

damper control

*The amount of the rebate is payable only up to the cost of the project including labor.
  

Eligible equipment

To be eligible a thermostat must be 365-day programmable, have automatic daylight savings time correction, and have battery back up in case of electricity interruption. Below is the list of eligible models currently approved for the portable classroom control rebate program:
 
  • Honeywell T7350 Commercial Programmable Thermostat
  • Bard CS 2000 Energy Monitor Controller (in conjunction with a thermostat)
  • Energy Automation Inc. OC-3 Smart Occupancy Control with PDA
  • Proliphix NT120 Internet HVAC Control
Additions will be made by request with evaluation for qualification. If you would like PSE to consider a different model for a project at your facility please call a PSE Energy Advisor at 1-800-562-1482 or fax your request to 425-456-2731. Be sure to include a product "cut sheet" or other information from the manufacturer so PSE can determine the product's eligibility.
 

How to participate

Step 1. Obtain PSE pre-authorization
  • Get pre-approval from PSE before installation if the model you have selected is not on the eligible list. Your contractor can help you choose an appropriate controller
  • Complete the portable classroom controls rebate application
  • Make a copy for your records
  • Mail or fax the completed and signed application to PSE
  • PSE will process your application as soon as possible
  • Authorizations are noted at the bottom of the application on the copy returned to you
Step 2. Complete the installation within 60 days of authorization
  • Test the equipment to be sure that it functions properly
Step 3. Submit your application for payment
  • Complete the portable classroom controls rebate application
  • Send completed rebate application, W-9 federal tax form and copies of your contractor invoice with separate charges for labor, parts and taxes to PSE for rebate processing
  • Rebate will be paid within six weeks once all required documentation has been submitted
  • Incentives are paid contingent that the equipment is properly installed, tested, and staff has been trained to program it. PSE reserves the right to inspect installations for compliance prior to payment
