February Windstorm

Current update

Restoration work continues today

We understand how difficult it is to be without power and appreciate your patience. We’re working as hard as we can to restore your power as quickly as possible. Our crews continue to make steady progress as they’ve worked to restore power to customers impacted by Tuesday’s windstorm. We’ve now restored power to 91% of affected customers since the onset of the storm, and we’ll continue working around the clock until power is restored to all customers.

Now that we’ve completed repairs to transmission lines and all substations are back online, we are focused on the neighborhood distribution lines serving smaller pockets of customers. This repair work is often time-consuming and slow-going, as it requires extensive work yet restores power in much smaller numbers, such as to 5, 10, or 20 customers at a time. We still have just over 300 individual damage points on the system that we’re working to repair.

We’ve brought in additional crews from around the region and British Columbia to help with restoration efforts. As crews complete jobs and become available, they’re being dispatched to hard-hit Kitsap County. Challenges faced by crews in Kitsap include wires and trees blocking roads, significant tree damage, and areas with multiple trees across power lines—this requires crews to remove trees in several areas before they can begin making repairs.
