“Re-Energize Your Block” Campaign Launches During Local National Night Out Events

PSE Customers Can Win Prizes by Helping Their Community Be More Energy Efficient

BELLEVUE, Wash. (July 29, 2010) - Media Advisory:

What

On Aug. 3 at National Night Out community awareness events in several Western Washington communities, Puget Sound Energy will kick off its “Re-Energize Your Block” campaign and contests promoting community-based efforts to use energy more efficiently.

Prior to and during the events, National Night Out block captains will distribute a PSE energy-efficiency kit to their neighbors with valuable retail coupons, a fun campaign yard sign, refrigerator thermometer and magnet, and information about ways to win prizes in campaign contests for PSE residential electric customers.

At several National Night Out events, PSE representatives and HomePrint-certified specialists will answer questions about ways customers can save every day through energy-efficiency rebates, as well as explain energy safety, including natural gas awareness, the use of CFL bulbs in porch lights and proper disposal of old bulbs and refrigerators.

Live Tweets and Facebook updates will highlight the local events as well. The campaign’s initial contest prize – an energy-efficient lighting package from Philips valued at $85 – will go to the entrant with the best photo or video demonstrating how they’re Re-Energizing THEIR block. Entries for the first weekly prize must be posted online during National Night Out, between 12 a.m on Aug. 3 and 11:59 p.m. Aug. 4. The weekly winners will also qualify for a chance to win the grand prize of an ENERGY STAR® flat-screen TV, also from Philips.
