Puget Sound Energy Completes Sale to Jefferson PUD March 31
Customers Given Guidance on Final Billing, Other Transition Issues
BELLEVUE, Wash. (March 20, 2013) – Effective at midnight on March 31, 2013, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) will complete the sale of its Jefferson County electric assets to the Jefferson Public Utility District (JPUD). Beginning April 1, 2013, JPUD will be the sole provider of electric service in east Jefferson County.
As part of this process, PSE will close its downtown Port Townsend office, located at 181 Quincy St., at 5 p.m. on Friday March 29, 2013. The payment drop box located at that office will close at 5 p.m. on March 27, 2013. After that, customers may make payments due to PSE via mail, at pse.com, and by using online banking.
PSE customers in Jefferson County have received their final PSE bill, which included charges for electricity used through March 9, 2013. All subsequent electricity use will appear on a future JPUD billing statement.
All PSE customers in Jefferson County were recently mailed a booklet called “Changing Hands” that provides details about how the transition affects them. For more information on the transition, as well as a link to an electronic version of the booklet, Jefferson County residents may visit pse.com/inyourcommunity/Jefferson.
PSE is asking customers who have a lock box that enabled PSE to gain access to the electric meter on their property to contact PSE at 1-888-225-5773 to arrange for its removal.
PSE has provided electricity to Jefferson County since 1919. The utility and its employees are pleased to have been part of the communities in Jefferson County, participating through corporate giving, volunteerism, and the Puget Sound Energy Foundation.
