Puget Sound Energy electric transmission project
Christopher to 51st transmission line
Fall 2011 project completion
- Construction began June 22, 2011 and was completed on November 21, 2011
To increase reliability and meet current and future energy needs in Auburn, Puget Sound Energy installed a new two-mile 115 kilovolt transmission line between the Christopher substation and the existing transmission line on 51st Avenue South in Auburn. Christopher substation was also upgraded with an additional breaker to accommodate the new line.
What is a transmission line?
Transmission lines are key elements in the electrical distribution system. The lines safely transport high voltage electricity from power generation sources like dams and wind generating facilities to substations in local communities. Transmission normally takes place at voltages of 55 kV and higher.
