Power Planning the Future
PSE Begins Neighborhood Workshops for Energize Eastside
BELLEVUE, Wash. (March 17, 2014) – Over the next two months, Puget Sound Energy is hosting a series of workshops focused on the Energize Eastside project where neighbors can provide crucial feedback about the various route segments.
The sessions will happen in geographical areas of the Eastside corridor: Kirkland, Redmond and North Bellevue are the north sub-area; Bellevue is the central sub-area; and Newcastle and Renton are the south sub-area.
These workshops are part of the outreach process for Energize Eastside, which is a project by PSE to build new, higher-capacity electric transmission lines to feed the region’s tremendous growth. Studies project that demand for reliable power could exceed capacity by late 2017 if nothing is done.
At the first workshop, the public can learn about the project, examine route segments and identify factors to evaluate the segments. At the second workshop, the public can score each segment based on factors developed in the previous session. At the Sub-Area Committee meeting, those members will review outcomes from the workshops and develop findings for the Community Advisory Group.

The Community Advisory Group will recommend a route to PSE later this year. Based on input from customers, the community and energy demands on the Eastside, PSE will ultimately decide the final route, while evaluating requirements and constraints of the project.
The public is welcome at all events.
